ARLINGTON, VA – Just Care: Social Justice in Health Care Healwell will host a two-day virtual conference, Just Care: Social Justice in Health Care on October 9 and 10, 2021. This conference is open to practitioners, patients, and advocates.
Social justice work is the key to truly effective, compassionate health care, no matter what discipline you practice. This conference offers two days of inspiring, real-world truth-telling, education and community for humans who care for humans. Speakers include some of the nation’s leading clinicians and advocates exploring challenges and innovative solutions to bias, access and community engagement.

Saturday, October 9 Keynote: Dr. Chase T. M. Anderson, The Impact of Identity Dr. Chase T. M. Anderson is a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow at University of California at San Francisco. His writing has appeared in Scientific American, STAT News, The New England Journal of Medicine, and other news and journal outlets Additional Saturday speakers will address health and incarceration, healthy aging among mature Black lesbians, and creative solutions to health care accessibility.
Sunday, October 10 Sirius Bonner, Beyond Body Positivity Sirius Bonner is the Vice President of Equity and Inclusion at Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette. She is an experienced equity practitioner, consultant, and educator with demonstrated successes in the health care industry, higher education, and the nonprofit sector. Additional Sunday speakers will address health care for people with disabilities, indigenous sovereignty in health care, and social justice in pediatric health care. General admission for both days of the conference is $149.99. In addition to the conference, this includes a one year membership to the Healwell Community, an online forum where compassionate, self-aware massage therapists and other health care providers can have honest, uncomfortable conversations about topics like access, racism, death, ageism, ableism, and equity that address the intersection of being a human being and providing quality care. In doing so, Community members can expand their impact, confidently navigate new challenges, and together create lasting, sustainable changes in health care.
